Kranj is the largest town in the Upper Carniola and the fourth largest town in Slovenia. It is situated on a rocky prominence between two alpine rivers – Kokra and Sava. Kranj represents an important cultural, economic and sports centre of Gorenjska. The old town centre has been protected as a cultural monument since 1983, because of its rich cultural and historical sights. In the old town are the most important attractions Town Hall, Presern's house, Pavslar's house, Petrcek's house, the Church of St. Kanzian and Comrades, castle Khislstein, Mitnica house, the Rosary Church with Plecnik's arcades and many other. In this part is also interesting the Canyon of River Kokra and the panoramic view on Pungert.

Visitors can also visit Brdo near Kranj, Preddvor, Trboje Lake, go to the smaller hill St. Jost above Kranj or Smarjetna gora Hill and refresh by the Sum Waterfall.
