Tacen is a village, which is situated in the northern part of the main city Slovenia, Ljubljana. It lies on the gravelly terrace between Smarna gora – Smarna Mountain and Sava River. Smarna Mountain is a popular place for hiking for local people and tourists. From here roads go to Smlednik, Vodice, Ljubljana and Medvode. The older part of Tacen is located by the church of Saint George. This was first mentioned in the year 1526. Tacen is famous by the kayak centre on the Sava River. Union Kajak kanu club Tacen was established in the year 1965. Here also began one of the most known routes for slalom on the wild waters. In the years 1955 and 1991 were organized two world's championshis and several matches for world's cup. In club every year organize the beginning school of kayak in the summer time, which is intended for children from 7 to 12 years. The honorary members of the club became in the year 2010 very successful former competitors which are Andraz Vehovar, Miha Terdic and Joze Vidmar.
