Laško is situated only 10 kilometres from Celje in the valley Savinja. Laško is the city with rich cultural and historical heritage, natural surroundings and vivid cultural, sporting and tourist pulse. Important buildings are church saint Martin, castle Tabor and Šmihel. Laško lies 228 heigh above sea level. River Savinja divides Laško to left and right bank. In the left side is hill Hum, on right side is Šmihel. Old city is squeezed under Hum. All newer buildings are resembling situated in both banks. Laško is like square first mentioned in the year 1227, but town rights got in the year 1927. The most famous is by brewing industry and entertainment Beer-flowers, which is the biggest tourist amusement in Slovenia and it is visited in five days from about 120.000 people. The highest point is the most crazy Saturday night with magnificent fireworks. Brewing in Laško can be traced back over 170 years. During a walk through the town a visitor might discover all old and beautiful places the town prides in. There is very little flatland in the town, just for the river, road and railway. If you need some relaxation you can visit Laško Thermal Spa Resort, one of the most important spas and tourist centres in Slovenia. They are especially adapted to those who have movement difficulties and those who wish to avoid such problems.
