Portoroz is one of the largest tourist places at the Slovenian coast. The city offers lots of relaxing walks at the beach or you can go by the path of Parenzana. The former railway tunnel is situated above the Portoroz in the nearness of the auditorium. Parenzana is the The path of health and friendship. It goes by the former narrow gauge track Parenzana, which ones connected Trieste and Porec. The railway line was more than 34 years a central link between Central Europe and Istria. It was 123 kilometres long. Travelling was possible only for the people who were richer. The path of friendship is called because it was made by the common decision of Italian, Croatian and Slovenian Communes. Those are the Communes through ones was running the Parenzana. The main part of Slovenian line was asphalted with the help of the European Union and it is used now only for the walkers and cyclists. It is the path of recreation for everyone who appreciate the healty life and they like to see the countryside of the place where they spend their time of. The path goes through old settlements and towns, between vineyards, plantations of olive trees, through short tunnels, crosses the valleys and goes just near the sea. It is suitable for everyone. By the path is lots of resting places, where you can recover breath and learn something new.
