The Gorenjska region is located in the northwestern part of
Slovenia. The landscape is very picturesque, as it is covered by lakes, mountains, alpine valleys, smaller and larger towns, hidden villages, mountain grapes, waterfalls and gorges.

Bled is one of the most visited and beautiful tourist destinations in Slovenia. It is world famous by the
Lake Bled with the island and the Bled Castle. A small island in the middle of the Lake Bled is home to Baroque Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church. Around the lake goes about 6 kilometres long promenade. Near Bled are located Camping Šobec and
Vintgar Gorge. From Bled goes the road to Pokljuka, which is the starting point for many hiking trips.

Bohinj is located about a half hour drive from Bled. The main tourist points are
Bohinj Lake,
Savica Waterfall,
Mostnica, Voje, Vogel and
Bohinj Aquapark. During the summer, the most popular activities are cycling, water activities, riding, sport climbing, paragliding, hiking and zipline. In winter, alpline skiing, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding, skating, riding, hiking and many more.

Vogel is a popular lookout point easily accessible by aerial cable car. It is a base for treks to nearby peaks. During the winter, the Vogel Ski Centre, is a popular ski resort. The ski slopes at Mount Vogel are not very demanding and are therefore suitable for the whole family.

Kranjska Gora is an alpine resort and a famous winter sport center. The main tourist points are Liznjek Homestead,
Lake Jasna,
Zelenci,
Vrsic Pass and the peaks in the surrounding area (
Vitranc,
Ciprnik,
Tromeja ...). During the winter, there are many skiers and cross-country skiers, and in the summer, many hikers and mountain bikers.

The Triglav National Park is famous for its beautiful alpine valleys, which are
Planica, Vrata,
Krma, Kot,
Krnica, Trenta. Planica is world famous for ski jumping. The
Nordic Centre Planica is an amazing environment for continuing the Slovenian tradition of ski jumping, as well as for cross-country training.

Vrata Valley is stretching from
Mojstrana to the foot of the
Triglav North Wall. At the beginning of the valley there is a
Slovenian Mountain Museum. On the trail we first come to the
Pericnik Waterfall. From Pericnik to Vrata the trail leads under the Galleries. The
Aljazev dom mountain hut in the Vrata Valley is the starting point for mountain tours to Mount Triglav, as well as to the Stenar Mountain, Škrlatica Mountain and the Kriški podi plateau.

Zelenci is a natural reserve near the town of Kranjska Gora. It is the source of the Sava Dolinka River. The Zelenci Lake is famous for its blue-green colour. From lake numerous extremely cold and clean stream emerge from the layers of marl, which gives the water its colour. Following a wooden footbridge you can walk to the Zelenci Lake and around the swamps.

In the Gorenjska region are the largest towns Kranj, Skofja Loka,
Trzic, Radovljica,
Lesce,
Jesenice and Kranjska Gora.
Kranj has an old town center where many cultural and historical sites are located. The main tourist attractions are the
Canyon of Kokra River,
Smarjetna gora Hill and St. Jost Hill above Kranj. Near Kranj are
Brdo Estate, Preddvor with lake and
Jezersko.

Skofja Loka lies in the middle of the field Sorsko polje, at the confluence of rivers Poljanska and Selska Sora. The town is famous for having the best preserved medieval core in Slovenia. The typicall Middle Age image of the Škofja Loka is created by the upper (
Mestni) and
Lower square and the
Loka Castle.

Radovljica is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Slovenia. The main Linhart town square is surrounded by medieval and Renaissance houses. At the end of the square there is the
Parish Church of Saint Peter and the
Baroque Radovljica Mansion. Near Radovljica are the Podvin Castle,
Begunje na Gorenjskem, Lesce and Lesce-Bled Airport.

Brezje is a typicall village from Gorenjska area at the feet of the Karavanke Mountains. The village is the most renowned pilgrimage destination in Slovenia. It is known for its Basilica of Mary Help of Christians which attracts numerous visitors. In the park in front of the church there is a huge cross and a sculpture of the Holy Family.
