Kranjska Gora is a sports and tourist centre, which is located on a slightly extended and flat valley part between the river Sava Dolinka and Pisnica. From here is a beautiful view to the mountains in the background – Vitranc, Mala Mojstrovka, Prisank, Razor, Skrlatica. In the old centre of Kranjska Gora are the largest attractions the late Gothic church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, the 300-year-old Liznjekova house and the birth house of famous writer Josip Vandot.
As a tourist place Kranjska Gora became known with the construction of the railway and its first visitors. In the later times the ski jumping in the alpine valley Planica carried the name of Kranjska Gora all around the world. This contributed to a rapid tourist development of the area, especially when the first cable railway for skiing was built on the slopes of Vitranc.
Kranjska Gora with the surrounding area offers many opportunities for different acctivities throughout all the year such as hiking, biking, Nordic walking, skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering, water sports, fishing, golf and many more. The summer sledding named Furious Pehta is located on the slopes of Vitranc 1. The track is 1500 meters long with dangerous and easy descend so you can choose to drive together with your child or alone. The sledding run is closed in the case of heavy rain.
