Kranjska Gora is a famous sports and tourist centre, which is located on a slightly extended and flat valley part between the river Sava Dolinka and Pisnica. From here is a beautiful view to the mountains in the background – Vitranc, Mala Mojstrovka, Prisank, Razor, Skrlatica. As a tourist place Kranjska Gora became known with the construction of the railway and its first visitors.
Kranjska Gora is the centre of the municipality, which also includes Mojstrana, Belca, Dovje, Srednji vrh, Gozd Martuljek, Ratece, Podkoren and Zgornja Radovna. The symbol of the municipality is the animal blackcock, which represents wealth, love and unspoiled nature. The blackcock is in these places among the protected animal species. Kranjska Gora with the surrounding area offers many opportunities for different acctivities throughout all the year such as hiking, biking, Nordic walking, skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering, water sports, fishing, golf and many more.
Trg na Golici (Na Golici Square) is located in the old centre of Kranjska Gora. In this place we can see the late Gothic church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, the People's House – Culture Home, guest house Cvitar, The Parish House and other. Trg na Golici (Na Golici Square) is a place of many activities, here are taking place various events and visitors can buy interesting things in the stalls. The Church of the Assumption was buit in the year 1510 by builder Jernej Firtaler from Villach. In front of the church we can see statues of Josip Lavtizar, Simon Robic and Lovrenc Lavtizar. In the 19th century Kranjska Gora became the centre of a lively trading and in August 1848 got the market rights on which reminds the pillar on the square before the church.
