Polhov Gradec is a village, which belongs to the Dobrova – Polhov Gradec Municipality. It lies in the shelter of Polhograjska Gora and Old Castle or Calvary. Most famous sights are Polhov Gradec Mansion and the Church of the Birth of Mary, which give the village the picturesque image. In the Polhov Gradec Mansion is a local museum and there are places for romantic weddings, which are also organized in the Mansion Park. In the nearness of the mansion is a Home of Beekepers, where we can buy honey and different products from it. The Church of the Birth of Mary was built in the baroque style.
Polhov Gradec was settled already in the Roman times and the most beautiful objects from that time are bronze jug and Celtic fibula, which can be seen in the museum. The most prominent villager was count Rihard Ursini Blagaj, who was also the first mayor in Polhov Gradec. In the old village centre are the most interesting houses Sever house with the preserved black kitchen, Ostetar house, house pri Peku, Faci house and others, which preserved signs from the past. We can strengthen and relax in the inn Gostilna pri Pratkarju or in the inn Pograjski dom.
The surrounding offers lots of possibilities for shorter and longer trips. We can go by the Path of Count Blagaj, which begins by the complex of Polhov Gradec Mansion, to the Calvary, to Polhograjska gora – Lovrenc (824 m) and other.
