Portoroz is a city, which is sown with the hotel complexes. Kempinski Palace Hotel is a luxurious hotel with five stars. Sometimes was named the Hotel Palace. It was built in the time of the Austro Hungary monarchy. It was the hotel of the highest class. Portoroz was in that time the most important health and seaside resort. It was proclaimed for a cultural monument in the end of the year 1983. The park in front of it was proclaim for a monument of formed nature. Unfortunately the hotel was closed in the year 1990 and from that time to the renovation was falling in ruins. When they started to renovate it they only left the front side of the hotel, everything else was pulled down and renovated. The institute for protection of the cultural heritage strictly controled the renovation. Hotel Kempinski Palace has a president apartment and 181 rooms and apartments. In the new part of the building they arranged the homeopathic centre of good health. In both complexes is seven large halls. The main area is the large Crystal hall.
