Bovec is the centre of the Upper Soca valley, just by Triglav National Park. In the past Bovec was important trade route between the port of Wienna and Trieste that passed the town. Later, the Bovec region was affected by the battles of the First World War. Visitors can today follow the traces from that time on the interesting Walks of Peace. Today, Bovec attracts with a wide array of sport activities, for those who just want to relax in the nature and for adrenaline junkies. From spring time to autumn are available a wide array of different white-water sports on the Soca River to choose from, hiking, biking, mountaineering trails to be explored, horseback trips, golf games and many other. The small sports airfield just by Bovec is interesting for gliders and paragliders all year round. In winter time the main attraction is the Kanin – Canin ski centre, but all arround Bovec there are pistes for cross county skiing and you can also go on sledding and snow-shoe trips.
In Bovec and surroundings is not available a lot of hotel accommodation in order to maintain the natural heritage. The most known are the Hotel Alp and the Hotel Kanin with three stars.
