Nova Gorica is a modern town, which is situated at the border with Italy. It is the heart of the sunny Goriska region. The town was founded in 1947 and it is one of the youngest Slovenian cities. Nova Gorica has a good road position at the crossroads of Karst, Vipava valley, Soca Valley and Furlan lowland, so has quickly developed into a regional cultural, economic, administrative, educational and transport centre. The oldest building is the train station in secessional style, which was built at the same time as the Bohinj railway. The symbol of Nova Gorica are roses, because the town was designed as a park with a large plantations of these beautiful flowers. Nova Gorica is also very known as a gambling town, which is completed with excellent accommodation, cuisine and wellness services. The outskirts of the Nova Gorica offers many opportunities for short or long trips to Kostanjevica, Solkan, Sveta Gora, Castle Kromberk, Goriska Brda and many other.
Nova Gorica does not have many hotel accommodation. The most known hotels are the Park, Casino & Hotel and Perla Casino & Hotel, which both have four stars. Beside hotel accommodation Nova Gorica also does not have many cheap accommodation in hostels, apartments and private rooms. The budget hostels are available only in the remote places. The budget rooms and appartments is the Valentincic tourism, which offers the genuine tastes of Briska Brda with wines, because they have a vineyard and a wine cellar. Beside that they have a larger garden with a seasonal swimming pool and they offer a free bike rental.
