Slivnica is a popular mountain excursion point for lovers of mountaineering and nature. It is 1114 metres high heap hill, which is raising above the Cerknica field. Because of the easy access is very well attended especially at weekends through all years time. You can go to Slivnica from many different places like Cerknica, Brezje, Martinjak and Grahovo. From Cerknica goes to the top easy marked path, which takes you about one hour and half, depending of preparedness. The way is at the beginning gently sloping through the zone of the undergrowth and then goes over to the pine forest, where begins the steep slope. Towards the end you cross spacious grassy region. You can admire the wonderful views to mountain crest of Javorniki, to Slivnica and Cerknica field with remarkable periodic lake. Before the hut in Slivnica will expect you the zone of the pine wood. In the hut they also have beds and dormitory accommodations. They organize celebrations for groups. Slivnica is known by the tales of witches. Under the top of Slivnica is also the home for radio amateurs of Slovenia.
