Piran - Town Walls

Piran has high town wall, from where is a wonderful view to the city Piran, sea and Italy in the distant. It was intended for defense. It has slightly inclined slope. It is easly accessible from the town centre and worth seeing. Piran was surrounded with the wall in the 7th century. The Secovlje Salt - pans are one of the rare saltpans, where the salt is still produced in compliance with several centuries old procedures. They are extending at the mouth of a river Dragonja in Secovlje at about 650 ha of surface. Piran - St. George's Church (Cathedral)

St. George's Church (Cathedral) in Piran is proudly raising above the city Piran and gives it the special meaning. The St. George was protector of the town. The cathedral was built in the 12th century and in the 14th century was constructed in the present largeness. In the year 1637 got the today's image by the baroque renovation.
