Robanov kot Valley

The Solcava district covers the area of Logar Valley, Robanov and Matkov kot Valley, the flatlands of Solcava and the mountain farms under Olseva, above Robanov and Matkov kot Valley. The Solcava district lies on the upper stream of Savinja River and is surrounded with the Karavanke and Savinja Alps. Robanov kot Valley is located between Solcava and Luce. Like the Logar Valley, Robanov kot Valley was also fashioned by glacial action during the last Ice Age. Robanov kot Valley was in 1987 due to its natural beauty, proclaimed a regional park.

In order to preserve the valuable natural environment the valley is closed to traffic. The Robanov kot Valley is 4 km long and through it flows the Bela stream. The Alpine valley was named after the Roban farm, which was already in the year 1426 in the land register of the Gornji Grad diocese. The area was formerly more connected to Carinthia, especially after the opening of the border crossing in Pavlovic sedlo. In the valley has preserved a typical architectural heritage of isolated farmsteads. In the nearness of the farms are pastures, fields and meadows.

Robanov kot Valley is surrounded with summits of Molicka pec with a chapel, Krizevnik, Mala Ojstrica, Strelovec, Kroficka and Veliki vrh. As a source of income is increasingly developing a tourist industry, because the region offers many short and long hiking tours.
