Town Jesenice is situated in the narrow valley between Karavanke to the north and Mezakla to the south. City has developed in close connection with ironworks and it was dependent on it until the year 1990. Pulse of the city until decade was residential settlement Stara Sava, which is today protected as technical monument. The heart of former settlement represent Bucellini-Ruard manor house, church of Maria Assumption, labour settlement building, named Kasarna, remains of ironworks, renovated blast furnace chimney and mill. Today is in manor house seat of Jesenice Museum with exhibition of history of ironworks in Gorenjska.
If we go for a walk round the city, we can take a look at next buildings: secondary school, theatre and square, manor house Kos, which belongs in complex of four iron castles, which were built in 16th and first half of 17th century by owners of iron plants, known restaurant Ejga, memorial park and others.
