Ljubljana has a charm of small towns, but at the same time the benefits of big cities. It has many gardens, greenery, parks and three green hills, which provide a rural atmosphere almost in the middle of the city, but also many cultural events, various restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and patisseries.
The Ljubljanica River gives Ljubljana a special charm. With its tidy banks, lush greenery and the fauna, it is perfect for sitting and walking. The town center from the Dragon Bridge to Spica and Gradascica all the way to Trnovo Church is one of the most beautiful and romantic parts of the town. Once upon a time, Podpec stone was unloaded from ships between the outfall of Gradascica into the Ljubljanica River and the Prule Bridge, which was intended for construction in the town. When Plecnik later arranged the banks of the river, this area was transformed into a river walking path, which, in addition to the aforementioned stone steps, is distinguished by the willow bush. When renovating the harbor between 2007 and 2009, worn-out willows were replaced with young trees, and the original elements of the architect's idea were complemented by more modern solutions. Originally designed wooden benches were installed and the lighting was redone, making the Trnovo pristan embankment famous for its colorful and vibrant beat. Embankment was made by architect Joze Plecnik. With its large stone steps that descend towards the Ljubljanica River, it is a special architectural creation and one of the most beautiful promenades in Ljubljana. In recent years, the Trnovski pristan embankment has also become a popular social gathering place. In the summer, many times the younger generation sits here. Near the embankment is the Prule Bridge. At first, a wooden bridge stood here, and the present one was built in 1993 according to the plans of the famous architect Peter Gabrijelcic.
The side sections of the bridge, intended for pedestrians, are paved with red brick in memory of the bricklayers, also known as the street leading by the bridge. In the middle of the Prule Bridge there is an interesting semicircular view.
