Kneza Koclja Street in Maribor is called by the prince Koclj, which was the prince of the margrave of the Spodnja Panonija. He got it by his father Pribin. Prince Koclj had independent it in the year 869 and ruled it till the year 874. Prince also helped two saint brothers Ciril and Metod. The monument of the prince Koclj is situated opposite of the Cultural House Narodni dom. In the nearness is also the cinema Kolosej, the Festival hall Lent, the Multimedia centre Kibla and the Insurance company Zavarovalnica Triglav. In the Kneza Koclja Street are many locations for the entertainment, which provide for the fun in the city. The Cultural House Narodni dom was built in the years from 1897 to 1898, after the plans of the Czech architect Jan Veyrich. It was built by the Town Savings Bank. It had the extraordinary meaning for the Slovenian part of the Maribor residents. In this building was the seat of the Slovenian cultural and national organizations. After the Second World War the house was directed by the army, there was the seat of the Yugoslav national army. It became the Cultural House again in the year 1992. Cultural House centre Narodni Dom Maribor is today the organizer of many performances through all the year and also the well-known traditional Festival Lent. The Kibla is the first presentation and production institution in Slovenia with the all year programme. In the Kibla they have KiBar, the gallery KiBela and the bookshop, which offers the professionally specialized and students literature.
