Ankaran is a small village located on the southern slope of the Miljsko peninsula, at the beginning of the Slovenian part of the Istrian coast. Ankaran is about five kilometers away from the nearby town of Koper.
The area was inhabited already in Roman times, because of its natural location it is protected from the winds. The early development of tourism was influenced by its favorable, sunny location, lush Mediterranean vegetation and mild climate. In nearby Valdoltra there is a well-known orthopedic hospital, and at Debeli rtic is a youth spa. Adria Ankaran is a tourist complex that offers various accommodations such as Hotel Convent, Vila Cedra, Vila Bor, Vila Adriatic or Adria Apartments. The Convent Hotel is a former Benedictine monastery that was completely renovated in 2011. Outdoor lovers can enjoy the Adria campsite, which is the largest and one of the most well maintained campsites on the Slovenian coast. The tourist complex offers guests restaurants and bars, a mini-shop, a wellness center and other amenities. Recreational amenities include a bowling center, bowling alley, beach volleyball court, miniature golf, football and basketball courts, table tennis courts, tennis courts, water park and water sports. The wellness center offers saunas, an indoor pool, an outdoor Olympic pool, fitness and massages and treatments. Upon entering the tourist complex, at the reception of the camp is the Ankaran Tourist Center, which offers visitors a lot of information about the offer of the complex and the offer of Slovenian Istria. The Adria Ankaran Resort offers a spacious beach with a pier, mostly paved. Shade is available right next to the beach, under old pines and olive trees. The outdoor Olympic pool has seawater and sun loungers and umbrellas along with the beach. The beach itself offers Thai massage.
Children can enjoy the children's pool and several guarded games, as well as their animation and care. Near the sea there is a self-service restaurant with daily service, Taverna a la carte with Mediterranean dishes and Adria Bar with refreshments.
