Quarter community Smarna Gora Hill is a smaller unit of the City of Ljubljana. It covers the areas under the foothills of Smarna Gora Hill and Rasica and the northern part of Ljubljana on the left bank of the Sava River. The community includes the settlements Gameljne, Rasica, Smartno and Tacen. In terms of population, it is the smallest community of the 17 municipalities of the City of Ljubljana. Gameljne is divided into Lower, Middle and Upper Gameljne. Rasica is a smaller, lumpy village. Above the village, at the top of Stanet Kosac, there is a mountain hut and a lookout tower, erected in 1957. Smartno has an interesting old village center, which is located next to the church. Tacen lies between the Sava River and Smarna Gora Hill on a pebble terrace. It is the seat of the Smarna Gora Hill Community. There is a kayak race track on the Sava River near Tacen. The Tacen Kayak Canoe Club was founded in 1965. One of the most famous wild water slalom courses was created there. In 1955 and 1991, two World Championships were held there and several World Cup matches were organized. Tacen is also the starting point for climbing Smarna gora Hill, which is a popular destination for many visitors in all seasons.
