Strunjan is a coastal settlement located between Piran and Izola in the Municipality of Piran. It is less developed in tourism than nearby Portorož. It is especially intended for those who want a peaceful break. It covers small villages of Marcane, Karbonar, Ronek, Sv. Duh and Pretski Gric.
At the end of the Gulf of Strunjan are the Strunjan salt pans and the Stjuza sea lagoon is nearby. Residents are involved in wine culture, fruit growing and early vegetables production. In the Strunjan valley, khaki or golden apple is grown and in November there is an event of khaki, where they present this fruit and the possibility of its use in cuisine. Strunjan has a well-kept beach - the Talaso bath, which is partly stone and partly concrete. It attracts many locals and other visitors during the summer. Near the beach, below the Strunjan Cliff, lies the most beautiful part of the Slovenian coast - the Moon Bay or Bay of Saint Cross.
Near Cape Strunjan is located the Church of the Vision of Saint Mary and the former Benedictine monastery, where the Elvira Vatovec Training Center is now located. Part of the Strunjan area has been protected as a Strunjan Landscape Park since 1990. The Landscape Park is the longest continuous stretch of natural coastline in the Gulf of Trieste.
