Castle Bathing Area is situated in the wonderful location just under the magnificent rock. Above the bathing area is rising the Bled Castle. Castle Bathing Area is the only public bathing place by Lake Bled. It is fenced in the land and also in the water. Grajsko kopališče has several years the Blue Flag, which means that fulfills the strict environment standards as the result of ecological activity of all the factors. The starts of the bathing area goes to the year 1930. Ivan Kenda built the first wooden cabin in more floors. They expanded the swimming areas, built ski jump and many other things. You can swimm in the Castle Bathing Area from 15th June till 15th September. The bathing area is open from 8.00 to 19.00 hour. They extended opening hours in July and August till 20.00 hour. Infront of the entrance, there is a boathouse where you can rent a rowing boat and row to the Bled island. The enclosed bathing site is 300 meters long. There are changing rooms, lockers, recently renovated toilets and showers and beach umbrella rental. You can also find pleasant shade under the dark green crowns of large chectnut trees. The bathing place provides ample opportunities for fun: two waterslides, a trampoline, a climbing wall, four outdoor swimming pools and a jump board. They also have Arnold Rikli's room, sandbox for children, table tennis and chess. In Rikli's room you can borrow books in Slovenian, English, German language and you can find out things about Arnold Rikli. Arnold Rikli (1823-1906) was a Swiss hydrograph who spent an important part of his life at Bled. He was one of the first to recognise the value of water, air and sunlight for human health and has earned world fame as the founder of health tourism at Bled. Several stands in the bathing area sell refreshing drinks and snacks. Food with simple dishes is available in the central part of the area. For invalid persons and older one is settled the access to the lake water. Children can play in the sandbox, playground or in the swing. In the future they would like to organize the bathing area as it was in the past, which is seen in the old postcards. Instead of the concrete they would line terrace with boards, cover the bathing area with roof and so enlarged the shade.
